About the Artist

Serap Kocacenk is a Swedish-Turkish contemporary artist working between Malmö and Istanbul. Her works are held in private and institutional collections internationally, including Sweden, Turkey, Australia, and the United States.

Kocacenk’s practice centers on emotional abstraction. Through layered surfaces and charged gestures, her works open portals between body and spirit. Each painting carries a psychological presence, inviting the viewer into a space where emotion is not illustrated but embodied.

Sensitivity, energy, and cultural in-betweenness form the foundation of Kocacenk’s work. Rooted in a lived experience between cultures, her paintings explore belonging, perception, and the invisible structures that shape inner life. The works are created slowly and intentionally, allowing emotion to accumulate, settle, and transform.

Kocacenk’s art has been exhibited in Sweden and Turkey and is included in both public and private collections. In 2024, her artwork A Cry for Help was featured on the cover of the book Kampen för livet by Dag Ekner. Her works are also represented in healthcare and institutional environments, where they serve as emotional anchors rather than decoration.

Each painting is approached as a living presence. Kocacenk does not create objects to be consumed, but works to be lived with. Her collectors are drawn to emotional depth, quiet power, and art that continues to unfold over time.
